                                School Mascot

Creative Pre School has a school mascot named Dyson.  He is a yellow lab, born late October 2008.  He was a Christmas gift from the CPS staff for the director, Diane Lorigan in December 2008.  He is friendly and loving with children.  Dyson has all of his shots and graduated from ABC Puppy School and has also attended Therapy Classes through k9's for Compassion.  He spends most of his day in the CPS office.  He enjoys visits from children and parents throughout the day.

                         Our Business

Creative Pre School was founded in the late 1970's for the purpose of providing a non-pressured, stimulating environment where children ages 3 to 5 would develop at their own rate. 

In 1991, Mrs. Paula Kacir introduced child care to the program.  As a result Creative Pre School and Day Care has been able to service the working community with affordable, quality child care and education for children 6 weeks to 12 years old.

In January 2008, Ms. Diane Lorigan purchased the program after many years of employment at Creative Pre School. 

Creative Pre School is a participant of the STARS program and earned a STAR 4 rating in the Spring of 2013. 

As a participant and grant recipient through the PA Keys/Keystone STARS program, we are able to offer a greater variety of educational and fun experiences for children of all ages.  With our funding we have installed a fence around our outdoor play area.  An area has also been enclosed for our infants and toddlers.  In addition, we have installed rubberized mulch under our climber for safer play.  We now have two 6 seat strollers for our infants/toddlers. 

Inside the center we've added trikes, balls, hula hoops, romper stompers, and various other gross motor equipment.  Our classrooms are full of lots of fun and educational centers such as:  dramatic play, art, math & science, music, literature, computer, blocks, sand & water, etc. Our teachers use the Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards to create various, well rounded, experiential, educational, and fun daily activities.

Owner/Director:  Ms. Diane Lorigan

Diane has a BS in Education from Youngstown State University.  She is certified in the areas of Elementary and Special Education.  She also has a concentration of classes and trainings in Early Childhood Education.  Diane started working for CPS in the Fall of 1992.  She holds the Director's Credential.

Group Supervisors/Teachers: 

Theresa Bornick has an Associate of Arts from Palm Beach Community College.  She joined the CPS team in 2014.

Lori Bungar joined the CPS team in 2015.  She has earned a BS degree in Early Childhood Education.

Amy Garrett has a BS in Elementary Education from Edinboro University.  In August of 2012 she joined the CPS team after 11 years as Director/Teacher at St. Bart's Pre School and Child Care Center.

Terresa Keck has a BS degree in Human Development and Family Services from Penn State University.  Miss Terri joined the CPS family in 2016.

Belinda Kennell attended CPS as a child and returned as a teacher in 2017. Miss Bee holds a BS in Edcuation from YSU.  

Heather Lathrop became a CPS team member in 2015.  She has BS degree in Education.

Courtney Reefer has a degree in Early Childhood Education from Slippery Rock.  She joined the CPS team in 2017.

Erica Stogden has a BS in Education from Duquesne University.  She joined the CPS team 2014.

Assistant Group Supervisors: 

Dori Edeburn employed since 2006 and has maintained the Child Deveolpment Associate credential.

Nancy Hogue employed in 2011 has earned the CDA credential.  

Sharon Krusey employed since 1995 and has maintained the CDA credential.

Deanna McCormick rejoined the CPS team in 2017.  She has earned the Child Development Associate.

Cheryl McLallen employed since 2008  and has earned the CDA credential.  

Bernadeen Michael joined the CPS team in 2016.  Miss Birdie has completed the Child Development Associate course.

Amanda Perrine employed since 2005 and has maintained the CDA credential.

Melanie Preston attended Penn State University.  Melanie joined the CPS family in 2015.

 **All staff participate in various trainings annually.  The trainings meet criteria of Department of Human Services and the STARS program.**
